The New Nike-Tiger Ad

April 8th, 2010

I’m not a big golf fan, but I am a fan of advertising and specifically a fan of advertising that makes you react.  This Nike ad featuring a remorseful-looking Tiger Woods uses the voice of his late father Earl and does just that.  Your thoughts?

Apologize for Inspiration

March 17th, 2010

Bottling up your feelings isn’t healthy.  When we hold emotions in, rather than letting them out in a healthy manner, we begin the unhealthy routine of holding in…and that can include holding in creative thoughts and ideas.  Creative professionals shouldn’t be holding in or holding back, we should be out on the ledge taking risks and pushing ourselves and our work farther.  So if you’ve got something you’ve been bottling up, let it out on the Apology Line and clear your mind and conscience.

Nothing to share? Listen to others’ confessions for a privileged peek into the inner secrets of complete strangers.  It’s entertaining and imagination stimulating.

KSQRDesign & Pho Grill Sites to be included in Web Design Index

March 8th, 2010

So it’s been busy lately, hence the lack of postings.  But it appears that all of our diligent work has paid off again.  We got word today that both www.ksqrdesign.com & www.pho-grill.com will be included in the next Web Design Index to be published.

This is the second accolade for ksqrdesign.com, which received recognition from DesignFirm.org as an exceptional site for both design and development in 2009.  KSQRDesign is company face for the very talented Kim Karon who, as you can tell by the site, has a great design aesthetic.  Ohsome inc worked closely with Kim to bring her ideas into motion and create KSQRDesign.com.  It was a great site to work on and we had a lot of fun working with Kim.  Read the rest of this entry »

Analogies for Idea Production

February 8th, 2010

Let’s face it, we’re in the business of ideas.  Which can be great when the juices are flowing, and really bad when the well is dry.  In order to keep the juices flowing on a consistent basis, it requires the ability to think of things from different points of view (and we’re not just talking about the customers’ pov, but that is a good habit to get into).

This week, we’re spilling one of our secrets for idea generation: Analogies.  This is a tactic often used in advertising but can be helpful for lots of creative professionals for anything from motivation to team management.  Case in point:

RT @jenohsome: I am to hump day as parking column is to tiny clown car. I crush you because I am strong like ox!

So give it a whirl and remember that you can use colons to represent “is to” which gives you a little bit of inside knowledge that only every sixth grader in English class knows ;-)
